Community Care
At Underdog Bookstore we are committed to providing a safe space where all can feel welcomed and represented.
Alongside our bookish offerings, we serve as a community hub and mutual aid site, providing resources, programs, and supplies for those in need.
We are also home to the Monrovia Community Fridge and pantry, as part of the LA Community Fridge network for those facing food insecurity.
Whenever the store is open, all are welcome to collect community care supplies for themselves or others, with no questions asked. We typically have food, water, masks, health and hygiene products, children and baby items, and pet supplies available.
Wildfire Relief
In January, our community of donors and volunteers came together to support our neighbors affected by the Southern California wildfires. Thanks to you, we were able to distribute essential supplies directly to displaced individuals and other mutual aid groups, evacuation centers, and shelters.
Underdog also partnered with authors AJ Somers and Melissa Whitney on the Book Lovers for LA Charity Auction, with proceeds supporting LA County Animal Care Foundation, LA Fire Foundation and LA Regional Food Bank.
We continue to offer our selection of used books free to wildfire survivors rebuilding their home libraries. Please visit us in store and our booksellers will be happy to assist. We regularly replenish our shelves and you can come back as many times as you would like to see what titles are available.

Donations
Your donations help us keep the Monrovia Community Fridge and pantry stocked with refrigerated, frozen and nonperishable food items (not homemade), water and other drinks, pet supplies, health and hygiene products etc.
Please call or message us before bringing any bulk amounts of used books or community care supplies to donate. This will help ensure that we have the space available and that a volunteer or member of staff will be available to assist with processing your donation.
