Sketching is more than just making a quick drawing; it’s a powerful tool for studying nature and capturing ideas that can later inspire finished artworks. By sketching regularly, we build a personal visual library that helps us recreate scenes from our imagination.
In the first hour of the session, I will do an introduction and a guided exercise using a simple but effective tool: the “Albrecht Dürer Perspective Window.” We’ll use this to explore the basics of perspective and look at how these principles are applied to sketch real places.
After the demo, we’ll sketch inside and outside of Underdogs Bookstore, where you'll choose your favorite view and sketch on location. This is a great chance to apply what we’ve learned and sharpen your observational drawing skills.
To wrap up, we’ll come together to look at some of the sketches and offer friendly, constructive feedback.
Feel free to bring your favorite drawing materials, such as pens, markers, pencils, or charcoal.
I’ll also have some supplies on hand to share!
